Managing Editor (Aposto Magazine)
Editorial · İstanbul· Ofis · Tam zamanlı
Aposto is launching Aposto Magazine, a new publication for culture, ideas, travel, food and the quality life. It lives in several places at once: a curated newsletter two to three times a week, weekly featured pieces from Soli, Apéro and Duende, an Instagram presence that will be as central as the newsletter itself, print, shoots, brand collaborations and events.
We're looking for the person who will run it. Not someone who helps with the magazine, but someone the magazine belongs to: the one who sets the line on what goes in and what doesn't, decides how it looks and sounds on every platform, and makes sure that whether you open it in your inbox, scroll past it on Instagram or walk into one of its events, it's unmistakably the same publication.
What you'll own
Editorial direction. The voice, the subjects, the standard. You decide what Aposto Magazine covers, what it ignores, and why. Every platform answers to that direction.
The newsletter. Two to three issues a week, put together by a dedicated newsletter editor who reports to you. They curate and edit; you set the direction, decide what makes the cut and what doesn't, and hold every issue to a standard. You'll shape the voice through them, and you'll be the one accountable when an issue goes out.
Instagram. A big part of this job. Aposto Magazine on Instagram isn't a promotion channel for the newsletter; it's the magazine in its own right. You'll set the editorial line for it, decide on series and formats, and work closely with the social and design teams to make it something people follow for its own sake.
Features and shoots. You'll plan the magazine's features, from long reads to visual stories, and work with our creative director on shoots: what we're photographing, why, and how it serves the story. You bring the editorial idea; together you make it look like Aposto.
Brand collaborations. Brands will want to be part of Aposto Magazine. Working with our commercial team, you'll shape those collaborations into editorial work that readers actually want, and you'll protect the line between partnership and advertising so the magazine stays worth trusting.
Events. From intimate gatherings to larger moments, you'll help turn the magazine into experiences: deciding which ideas deserve to happen in a room, and making sure they feel like the magazine come to life.
Writers and contributors. You'll find them, brief them, edit them, pay them and keep them coming back. Writers, photographers, illustrators, people with something to say. Building that bench is central to the role, not an admin task.
The publication as a whole. You'll read the numbers (opens, followers, engagement, retention) and know what to do with them. You'll work daily with design, social, video, commercial and events, and you'll be the person who answers for Aposto Magazine wherever it appears.
Who we're looking for
- You've led a publication, magazine, section or editorial brand before, and you've been responsible for it shipping, on time and to a standard.
- You have taste across culture, lifestyle and ideas, and can explain why one piece belongs and another doesn't.
- You think visually. You know what makes a shoot, a cover or an Instagram series work, and you can hold your own in a room with a creative director.
- You understand Instagram as an editorial medium, not just a distribution channel.
- You're comfortable working with brands, and you know how to say yes to a partnership without giving away the magazine.
- You know writers and creatives, or you know how to find them. You can commission, give honest notes and keep relationships intact.
- You've managed people before, or you're ready to. You can direct someone's work without taking the pen from them.
